Coronavirus update – Back to Level 1
At midnight on Wednesday 7 October, Auckland joined the rest of the country at Alert Level 1. It’s great to be back to something more like normal!
There are now no limitations on our ability to gather for all our activities in the usual way. We still need to take care however, as the virus remains a global reality and a community outbreak could occur in New Zealand again.
Caution should be exercised around practices such as sharing the Peace and the Eucharist, as some people may not feel comfortable about shaking hands or sharing the common cup. Taking Communion in one kind (the bread only) is an acceptable way to participate.
Other guidelines are:
Make hand sanitiser available and clean facilities regularly.
Contact tracing – keep track of where you’ve been and who you’ve seen. Ministry units must still display a QR code and record keeping is recommended.
Face coverings – it’s a good idea to wear a face covering on public transport and when you can’t maintain physical distance from people you don’t know.
Keep your distance – staying a safe distance from people you don’t know will help minimise the spread of COVID-19 if community transmission returns.
If you have cold or ‘flu symptoms, stay home and call your doctor or Healthline. Get COVID-19 tested and self-isolate if you are told to do so by health authorities.
Practise good hygiene – wash hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes.
